Philly food is so much more than cheesesteaks. Let us show you.
On Saturday, September 10, from 1-4pm, Jose Garces will host his third annual Garces Foundation Summer Barbecue at his own Luna Farm in Ottsville, PA. The event will feature live music, book signings, hikes, and of course plenty to eat and drink care of Garces Events and other local restaurants.
Tickets are $75 per person, or $35 for children 5-12, with children under give attending for free. All of the event proceeds will benefit the Garces Foundation, and the admission will keep you quite busy for the three hours of the event. In addition to the live music from American Deluxe, Jose Garces signing copies of The Latin Road Home and Latin Evolution, and guided hiking trails around the 40-acre property, there will be a scavenger hunt, make-and-take herb seed plantings, and Rock the Roll barbecue sauce samples.
If you’re more interested in the food and drink (and who wouldn’t be?), there will be the aforementioned barbecue lunch from Garces Events and other local restaurants, as well as a vodka infusion workshop from Tito’s Handmade Vodka with a take-home jar of your own personal infusion (21+ of course), as well as a Chaddsford Winery sangria station. There will also be Fiji water, beer, wine, specialty cocktails, and lemonade available.
The Garces Foundation, which will benefit from the proceeds of the event, was founded in 2012 as a way to help Philadelphia’s immigration community, specifically those who work in the city’s hospitality industry and their families. For that, the admission price is worth it, and then you get the benefit of eating a great lunch, having fun on a farm on what will be a beautiful (albeit hot) day, and the chance to hang out with Iron Chef Jose Garces. Do you really have better plans for your weekend?
