Just Two Weeks Left for PHeaSt Tickets

On Friday, October 16, the Navy Yard will once again play host to an excellent food event to raise money for a great cause—this time, though, it is for the 4th annual PHeaSt, a garden-to-table event to raise money for the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s City Harvest Program.  The event will take place from 7-10pm with a VIP early admission at 6, at the PHS Warehouse in the Navy Yard.

The event brings together local chefs and urban growers for a unique garden-to-table culinary experience.  This year, the likes of Buddakan, Fitler Dining Room, Garces Trading Co., IndeBlue, Supper, The Farm and the Fisherman, Vedge, and the Vetri Foundation will be paired with local community gardens and co-ops to feed guests at the event.  You can also chat with chefs, get gardening tips from local growers, or enjoy plenty of drinks from Bank & Bourbon, Dad’s Hat Rye, Hendrick’s Gin, Mac’s Tavern, Whistle Pig, and Yards Brewery.  There are many more participants, so be sure to get your tickets before they sell out (which they do every year).

In addition to the great food and drink, the event provides a great atmosphere as well, as the location is home to recycled props from the Philadelphia Flower Show, which will make it quite the unique setting for a food event.  There will also be a charity “Fruits of the Vine” wine pull, in which guests can pay $20 to pull a random wine bottle from a selection of over 100 donated by individuals and Fine Wine & Good Spirits.  The bottles range in value from $20 to $300, so you may walk away with something spectacular.

Guests will be able to vote throughout the evening for People’s Choice for the best dish, with the most popular being selected as “Best in PHeaSt.”  Randomly selected guests will also receive gift certificates to winning restaurants.  If all this isn’t enough to intrigue you, keep in mind that the City Harvest Program, which feeds hundreds of families in need each week of the growing season, is directly benefitted by the event.

Tickets are on sale and can be found at the PHeaSt website.  PHS members will receive a discount, but for non-members, general admission tickets are $165, with VIP tickets running $300. Much of the ticket price is also tax deductible, so you really have no reason not to go!
